Red Hat is very pleased to announce the general availability of JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 5.0.
Now, all customers in all regions can access JBoss EAP 5.0 via the JBoss Customer Support Portal.
JBoss EAP 5.0 represents a significant milestone for customers and Red Hat's JBoss Middleware Business Unit.
EAP 5.0 delivers on our JBoss Open Choice strategy, launched earlier this year at JavaOne. JBoss Open Choice is our application platform product strategy aimed at addressing the customer demand for supporting a variety of popular programming and component models (Java EE, Spring Framework, etc.) used to deploy Java applications, without sacrificing operational requirements for reliability, availability, scalability or manageability.
JBoss EAP 5.0 positions Red Hat very well against competitive close-sourced application platforms from Oracle and IBM. It also becomes the foundation for cloud computing paradigms.
JBoss EAP 5.0 also provides a number of customer-driven features, such as Java EE 5 certification, improved performance, enhanced security, and improvements in management and configuration via a new embedded administration console.
Additionally, with the launch JBoss EAP 5.0, we have introduced enhancements to the JBoss Product Life Cycle for all JBoss products. One example of this change is that EAP 5.0 will now support a 7 year product life cycle, similar to
Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
